Crowe Isle of Man pitches up to sponsor DRUFC match day lunch
Crowe Isle of Man has sponsored its first Douglas Rugby Union Football Club (DRUFC) match day lunch.
The Douglas-based accounting firm hosted the lunch at the club’s Port E Chee home ground on Saturday October 20, after which more than 260 spectators saw the Douglas side defeat visitors Penrith 58-13.
The sponsorship agreement follows Crowe’s sponsorship at the Isle of Man Sports Awards in March of the Team of the Year award, won by DRUFC.
Crowe Isle of Man director Phaedra Bird said: ‘The lunch had all the right “ingredients”: great venue, teams, atmosphere, weather and, of course, food. Importantly the event provided the perfect opportunity for “team Crowe” to meet “team DRUFC” at home and witness their winning performance.
‘We’re pleased to be supporting a Douglas club that’s achieving great things in the national league. All of us at Crowe Isle of Man will be following the club’s progress and the lunch may have been our first but it most definitely won’t be our last.’
‘We were also pleased that the event served to raise awareness and funds for CALM – the Campaign Against Living Miserably – thanks to the sterling efforts of George Blackwell who spent the afternoon on an exercise bike, “pedalling for pounds” for this leading movement against male suicide.
