Crowe attended Awards for Excellence 2018 to cheer on the finalists
Director Phaedra Bird and Business Development & Marketing Manager Kimberley Moughtin, congratulated Bill Dale from Beach Buddies for his continued commitment to the Environment and Sustainability.
Beach Buddies was set up in 2007 when beaches on the island were severely polluted with plastic and marine rubbish. Over a period of six weekends 30,000 plastic bottles alone were removed from Ballaugh beach.
Its methods are unique and have attracted worldwide interest and acclaim from environmental groups and universities. These methods include the provision of 38 bins at access points to local beaches and presentations in all the island’s schools, about the effects of marine pollution in the world’s oceans. All the schools are also involved with a project started by Beach Buddies earlier this year, to have pride in their own school grounds.
More than 10,000 people have taken part in beach cleaning with Beach Buddies and in March the charity received a letter of support from the Queen.
Beach Buddies raises the island’s profile and the environmental cause on a global scale and raises awareness which is positively changing behaviours.
Well done Bill and the team from all of us at Crowe
